ਹਮਰੀ = ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ। ਗਣਤ = ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ। ਨ ਗਣੀਆ = ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਣਦਾ। ਕਾਈ ਗਣਤ = ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਲੇਖਾ। ਬਿਰਦੁ = ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ (ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸੁਭਾਉ। ਪਛਾਣਿ = ਪਛਾਣੈ, ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੁਭਾਉ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣਿ ॥੧॥

ਦੇਇ = ਦੇ ਕੇ। ਰਾਖੇ = (ਕੁਕਰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਾਣਿ = ਮਾਣੈ, ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

(ਉਹ, ਸਗੋਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ, ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜਿਸ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

(ਕੁਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਲ ਪਰਤ ਰਹੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ) ਮੇਰੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥

ਜੀਉ ਪਾਇ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਦਿਤਾ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਖਾਣੁ ॥

The One who fashioned the body and placed the soul within, who gives you clothing and nourishment -

ਜੀਉ = ਜਿੰਦ। ਪਾਇ = ਪਾ ਕੇ। ਪਿੰਡੁ = ਸਰੀਰ। ਜਿਨ = ਜਿਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨੇ। ਸਜਾਇਆ = ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਪਾ ਕੇ (ਸਾਡਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਸਾਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਤੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁੱਢ-ਕਦੀਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਪਿਆਰ ਵਾਲੇ) ਸੁਭਾਉ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖੇ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣਿ ॥੧॥

He gave me His hand, and saved me and made me His own; forever and ever, I enjoy His Love. ||1||

ਦੇਇ = ਦੇ ਕੇ। ਰਾਖੇ = (ਕੁਕਰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਾਣਿ = ਮਾਣੈ, ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

(ਉਹ, ਸਗੋਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ, ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਜਿਸ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਦ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਣ ॥

The True Lord and Master is forever merciful and forgiving.

ਸਾਚਾ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਸਦ = ਸਦਾ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,

ਬੰਧੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹੋਈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

My Perfect Guru has bound me to Him, and now, I am in absolute ecstasy. ||Pause||

ਬੰਧੁ = ਰੋਕ, ਬੰਨ੍ਹ (ਕੁਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਰੁਕਾਵਟ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਕਲਿਆਣ = (ਆਤਮਕ) ਸੁਖ ॥

(ਕੁਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਲ ਪਰਤ ਰਹੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ) ਮੇਰੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ॥

ਜੀਉ ਪਾਇ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਦਿਤਾ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਖਾਣੁ ॥

The One who fashioned the body and placed the soul within, who gives you clothing and nourishment -

ਜੀਉ = ਜਿੰਦ। ਪਾਇ = ਪਾ ਕੇ। ਪਿੰਡੁ = ਸਰੀਰ। ਜਿਨ = ਜਿਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨੇ। ਸਜਾਇਆ = ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਪਾ ਕੇ (ਸਾਡਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਸਾਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਤੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,

ਅਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਕੀ ਆਪਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਾਖੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੨॥੧੬॥੪੪॥

He Himself preserves the honor of His slaves. Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||2||16||44||

Crossing the stream, my foot does not get stuck — I am filled with love for You. O Lord, my heart is attached to Your Feet; the Lord is Nanak’s raft and boat. || 1 || FIFTH MEHL: The sight of them banishes my evil-mindedness; they are my only true friends. I have searched the whole world; O servant Nanak, how rare are such persons! || 2 || PAUREE: You come to mind, O Lord and Master, when I behold Your devotees. The filth of my mind is removed, when I dwell in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. The fear of birth and death is dispelled, meditating on the Word of His humble servant. The Saints untie the bonds, and all the demons are dispelled. They inspire us to love Him, the One who established the entire universe. The seat of the inaccessible and infinite Lord is the highest of the high. Night and day, with your palms pressed together, with each and every breath, meditate on Him. When the Lord Himself becomes merciful, then we attain the Society of His devotees. || 9 ||

नदी तरंदड़ी मैडा खोजु न खु्मभै मंझि मुहबति तेरी ॥
Naḏī ṯaranḏ▫ṛī maidā kẖoj na kẖumbẖai manjẖ muhabaṯ ṯerī.

The sight of them banishes my evil-mindedness; they are my only true friends.

ਹਉ ਢੂਢੇਦੀ ਜਗੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ॥੨॥
हउ ढूढेदी जगु सबाइआ जन नानक विरले केई ॥२॥
Ha▫o dẖūdẖeḏī jag sabā▫i▫ā jan Nānak virle ke▫ī. ||2||
I have searched the whole world; O servant Nanak, how rare are such persons! ||2||

You come to mind, O Lord and Master, when I behold Your devotees.

ਮਨ ਕੀ ਕਟੀਐ ਮੈਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਵੁਠਿਆ ॥
मन की कटीऐ मैलु साधसंगि वुठिआ ॥
Man kī katī▫ai mail sāḏẖsang vuṯẖi▫ā.
The filth of my mind is removed, when I dwell in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਉ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਪਿ ॥
जनम मरण भउ कटीऐ जन का सबदु जपि ॥
Janam maraṇ bẖa▫o katī▫ai jan kā sabaḏ jap.
The fear of birth and death is dispelled, meditating on the Word of His humble servant.

ਬੰਧਨ ਖੋਲਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਦੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਛਪਿ ॥
बंधन खोलन्हि संत दूत सभि जाहि छपि ॥
Banḏẖan kẖolniĥ sanṯ ḏūṯ sabẖ jāhi cẖẖap.
The Saints untie the bonds, and all the demons are dispelled.

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥
तिसु सिउ लाइन्हि रंगु जिस दी सभ धारीआ ॥
Ŧis si▫o lā▫iniĥ rang jis ḏī sabẖ ḏẖārī▫ā.
They inspire us to love Him, the One who established the entire universe.

ਊਚੀ ਹੂੰ ਊਚਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੀਆ ॥
ऊची हूं ऊचा थानु अगम अपारीआ ॥
Ūcẖī hūŉ ūcẖā thān agam āpārī▫ā.
The seat of the inaccessible and infinite Lord is the highest of the high.

ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
रैणि दिनसु कर जोड़ि सासि सासि धिआईऐ ॥
Raiṇ ḏinas kar joṛ sās sās ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai.
Night and day, with your palms pressed together, with each and every breath, meditate on Him.

ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਤਾਂ ਭਗਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੯॥
जा आपे होइ दइआलु तां भगत संगु पाईऐ ॥९॥
Jā āpe ho▫e ḏa▫i▫āl ṯāŉ bẖagaṯ sang pā▫ī▫ai. ||9||
When the Lord Himself becomes merciful, then we attain the Society of His devotees. ||9||

ਸਲੋਕ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਰੂਪੀ ਨਾਲਾ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਖੁਭਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਹੈ। ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ, ਹੇ ਕੰਮ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਸੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਲਹੜਾ ਤੇ ਨਉਕਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਖੋਜੁ = ਪੈਰ। ਖੁੰਭੈ = ਖੁੱਭਦਾ। ਮੰਝਿ = ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ। ਸਹ = ਹੇ ਪਤੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ)! ਤਉ ਚਰਣੀ = ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ। ਹੀਅੜਾ = ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਦਿਲ। ਸੀਤਮੁ = ਮੈਂ ਸਿਊਂ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਤੁਲਹਾ = ਤੁਲ੍ਹਾ, ਲੱਕੜਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੱਧਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਗੱਠਾ ਜੋ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਤੇ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਰਿਆ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

(ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਨਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਤਰਦੀ ਦਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੈਰ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਵਿਚ) ਨਹੀਂ ਖੁੱਭਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪਤੀ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ)! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਹ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਦਿਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤਰਨ ਲਈ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਤੁਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਬੇੜੀ ਹੈਂ।੧।

ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੇਖਣ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਖੋਟੀ ਮਤ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੋਸਤ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਹਾਨ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਫਰ ਨਾਨਕ! ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਥੋੜੇ ਹਨ ਐਸੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼।

ਸਾਡੇ (ਅਸਲ) ਮਿੱਤਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਭਾਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲੇ (ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ)।੨।

ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਆਵੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਤੇਰਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਡਿਠਿਆ ॥ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਕਟੀਐ ਮੈਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਵੁਠਿਆ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਉ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਪਿ ॥ ਬੰਧਨ ਖੋਲਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਦੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਛਪਿ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਧਾਰੀਆ ॥ ਊਚੀ ਹੂੰ ਊਚਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੀਆ ॥ ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਤਾਂ ਭਗਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੯॥

ਪਉੜੀ। ਤੂੰ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਜਾਂਦ ਹੈ, ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਿਆਂ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਮਲੀਣਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਧੂ ਜੂੜ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਭੂਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੰਤ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਆਲਮ ਅਸਥਾਪਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਚੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਚਾ ਹੈ ਆਸਣ, ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ। ਹੱਥ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ, ਰਾਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰ ਸੁਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ। ਜਦ ਮਾਲਕ ਖੁਦ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਹੀ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀਆਂ (ਭਗਤਾਂ) ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਚਿਤਿ = ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ। ਵੁਠਿਆ = ਅੱਪੜਿਆਂ। ਸਬਦੁ = ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ। ਖੋਲਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ, ਲਾਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ = (ਅੱਖਰ 'ਨ' ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਅੱਧਾ 'ਹ' ਹੈ)। ਸਭ = ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ। ਧਾਰੀਆ = ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਅਗਮ = ਅਪਹੁੰਚ। ਰੈਣਿ = ਰਾਤ। ਕਰ = ਹੱਥ। ਧਿਆਈਐ = ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਨੋਟ: ਪਿਛਲੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਤੁਕ ਵਿਚ ਵੇਖੋ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਧਿਆਇਐ')।੯।

(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ ਅਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ) ਡਰ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸੰਤ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਰੂਪ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜਿੰਨ ਭੂਤ ਲੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਸੰਤ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ (ਅਸਾਡਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਿਆਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।੯।

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ॥੧॥
प्रभ चरण कमल रिद माहि निवासा ॥१॥
Parabẖ cẖaraṇ kamal riḏ māhi nivāsā. ||1||
They enshrine the Lotus Feet of God within their hearts. ||1||

ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਤੁਝੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਿਖਲਾਵਉ ॥
सुणि मन तन तुझु सुखु दिखलावउ ॥
Suṇ man ṯan ṯujẖ sukẖ ḏikẖlāva▫o.
Listen, O my mind and body, and let me show you the way to find peace,

ਹਰਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਤੁਝੁ ਭੋਗ ਭੁੰਚਾਵਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हरि अनिक बिंजन तुझु भोग भुंचावउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Har anik binjan ṯujẖ bẖog bẖuncẖāva▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
so that you may eat and enjoy the various delicacies of the Lord||1||Pause||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੁੰਚੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
अम्रित नामु भुंचु मन माही ॥
Amriṯ nām bẖuncẖ man māhī.
Taste the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your mind.

ਅਚਰਜ ਸਾਦ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਬਰਨੇ ਨ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
अचरज साद ता के बरने न जाही ॥२॥
Acẖraj sāḏ ṯā ke barne na jāhī. ||2||
Its taste is wondrous - it cannot be described. ||2||

ਲੋਭੁ ਮੂਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝਿ ਥਾਕੀ ॥
लोभु मूआ त्रिसना बुझि थाकी ॥
Lobẖ mū▫ā ṯarisnā bujẖ thākī.
Your greed shall die, and your thirst shall be quenched.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਨ ਤਾਕੀ ॥੩॥
पारब्रहम की सरणि जन ताकी ॥३॥
Pārbarahm kī saraṇ jan ṯākī. ||3||
The humble beings seek the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God. ||3||

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਭੈ ਮੋਹ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
जनम जनम के भै मोह निवारे ॥
Janam janam ke bẖai moh nivāre.
The Lord dispels the fears and attachments of countless incarnations.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੨੭॥
नानक दास प्रभ किरपा धारे ॥४॥२१॥२७॥
Nānak ḏās parabẖ kirpā ḏẖāre. ||4||21||27||
God has showered His Mercy and Grace upon slave Nanak. ||4||21||27||

ਸੂਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਲੋਕ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਜਿਥੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਬੈਕੁੰਠ = ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ। ਰਿਦ = ਹਿਰਦਾ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹੋਣ, ਉਹੀ ਹੈ (ਅਸਲ) ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਰ। (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਮਰੀਏ ਆਤਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਹ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਵਿਖਾਵਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਅਨੈਕਾਂ ਭੋਜਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਆਮਤਾਂ ਛਕਾਵਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

ਦਿਖਲਾਵਉ = ਦਿਖਲਾਵਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਵਿਖਾਵਾਂ। ਬਿੰਜਨ = ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਭੋਜਨ। ਭੁੰਚਾਵਉ = ਭੁੰਚਾਵਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਖਿਲਾਵਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ) ਸੁਣ, (ਆ,) ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਤਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿਆਂ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਹੈ, (ਆ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਭੋਜ ਖਵਾਵਾਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਧਾਰਸਰੂਪ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਖ। ਅਕਥਨੀਯ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਦਭੁਤ ਸੁਆਦ।

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ = ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਭੁੰਚੁ = ਖਾਹ। ਸੁਦ = ਸੁਆਦ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (-ਭੋਜਨ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਖਾਇਆ ਕਰ, ਇਸ ਭੋਜਨ ਦੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਹਨ, ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।੨।

ਲੋਭੁ ਮੂਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝਿ ਥਾਕੀ ॥ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਨ ਤਾਕੀ ॥੩॥

Your greed shall die, and your thirst shall be quenched. The humble beings seek the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God. ||3||

ਤੇਰਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਓਟ ਤਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਤਾਕੀ = ਤੱਕੀ। ਬੁਝਿ ਥਾਕੀ = ਮਿਟ ਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ-ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੱਕ ਲਿਆ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਲੋਭ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੩।

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਭੈ ਮੋਹ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੨੭॥

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦਿਆਂ ਡਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਲਗਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨੌਕਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।

लोभु मूआ त्रिसना बुझि थाकी ॥

Your greed shall die, and your thirst shall be quenched.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਨ ਤਾਕੀ ॥੩॥
पारब्रहम की सरणि जन ताकी ॥३॥
Pārbarahm kī saraṇ jan ṯākī. ||3||
The humble beings seek the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God. ||3||

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਭੈ ਮੋਹ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
जनम जनम के भै मोह निवारे ॥
Janam janam ke bẖai moh nivāre.
The Lord dispels the fears and attachments of countless incarnations.

ਸੂਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਲੋਕ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਜਿਥੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਬੈਕੁੰਠ = ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ। ਰਿਦ = ਹਿਰਦਾ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹੋਣ, ਉਹੀ ਹੈ (ਅਸਲ) ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਰ। (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਤੇਰਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਓਟ ਤਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਤਾਕੀ = ਤੱਕੀ। ਬੁਝਿ ਥਾਕੀ = ਮਿਟ ਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ-ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੱਕ ਲਿਆ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਲੋਭ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੩।

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl:

ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਪਾਇਓ ਤਨਿ ਸਾਸਾ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
मिरतक कउ पाइओ तनि सासा बिछुरत आनि मिलाइआ ॥
Mirṯak ka▫o pā▫i▫o ṯan sāsā bicẖẖuraṯ ān milā▫i▫ā.

ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਭਏ ਸ੍ਰੋਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
पसू परेत मुगध भए स्रोते हरि नामा मुखि गाइआ ॥१॥
Pasū pareṯ mugaḏẖ bẖa▫e saroṯe har nāmā mukẖ gā▫i▫ā. ||1||

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਦੇਖੁ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
पूरे गुर की देखु वडाई ॥
Pūre gur kī ḏekẖ vadā▫ī.
Behold the glorious greatness of the Perfect Guru.

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ता की कीमति कहणु न जाई ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧā kī kīmaṯ kahaṇ na jā▫ī. Rahā▫o.
His worth cannot be described. ||Pause||

ਦੂਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਢਾਹਿਓ ਡੇਰਾ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਬਿਸਰਾਮਾ ॥
दूख सोग का ढाहिओ डेरा अनद मंगल बिसरामा ॥
Ḏūkẖ sog kā ḏẖāhi▫o derā anaḏ mangal bisrāmā.
He has demolished the abode of sorrow and disease, and brought bliss, joy and happiness.

ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥
मन बांछत फल मिले अचिंता पूरन होए कामा ॥२॥
Man bāŉcẖẖaṯ fal mile acẖinṯā pūran ho▫e kāmā. ||2||
He effortlessly awards the fruits of the mind's desire, and all works are brought to perfection. ||2||

ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
ईहा सुखु आगै मुख ऊजल मिटि गए आवण जाणे ॥
Īhā sukẖ āgai mukẖ ūjal mit ga▫e āvaṇ jāṇe.
He finds peace in this world, and his face is radiant in the world hereafter; his comings and goings are finished.

ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
निरभउ भए हिरदै नामु वसिआ अपुने सतिगुर कै मनि भाणे ॥३॥
Nirbẖa▫o bẖa▫e hirḏai nām vasi▫ā apune saṯgur kai man bẖāṇe. ||3||
He becomes fearless, and his heart is filled with the Naam, the Name of the Lord; his mind is pleasing to the True Guru. ||3||

ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
ऊठत बैठत हरि गुण गावै दूखु दरदु भ्रमु भागा ॥
Ūṯẖaṯ baiṯẖaṯ har guṇ gāvai ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ bẖaram bẖāgā.
Standing up and sitting down, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord; his pain, sorrow and doubt are dispelled.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੧॥
कहु नानक ता के पूर करमा जा का गुर चरनी मनु लागा ॥४॥१०॥२१॥
Kaho Nānak ṯā ke pūr karammā jā kā gur cẖarnī man lāgā. ||4||10||21||
Says Nanak, his karma is perfect; his mind is attached to the Guru's feet. ||4||10||21||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਮੁਰਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਸ ਪਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਛੜਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਪਸ਼ੂ, ਜਿੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਭੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਥੀ ਵੰਞਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਮਿਰਤਕ = (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ। ਤਨਿ = ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਸਾਸਾ = ਸਾਹ, ਜਿੰਦ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ। ਆਨਿ = ਲਿਆ ਕੇ। ਮੁਗਧ = ਮੂਰਖ। ਸ੍ਰੋਤੇ = (ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ। ਮੁਖਿ = ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ) ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ-ਜਿੰਦ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਸ਼ੂ (-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪ੍ਰੇਤ (-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਬੰਦੇ) ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਗਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਦੇਖੁ ਵਡਾਈ ॥ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਤੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਵੇਖ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

ਤਾ ਕੀ = ਉਸ (ਵਡਿਆਈ) ਦੀ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਉੱਚਤਾ ਬੜੀ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।ਰਹਾਉ। ❀ ਨੋਟ: ਇਥੋਂ 'ਘਰੁ ੨' ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹ ੧੧ ਹੈ। ❀ ਨੋਟ: ਇਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਜਿਗਿਆਸੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਕਰਾ ਕੇ, ਤੇ, ਕਿਸੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿਵਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਦੂਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਢਾਹਿਓ ਡੇਰਾ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਬਿਸਰਾਮਾ ॥ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੀੜ ਅਤੇ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਦੇ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ, ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਮੇਵੇ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉੇਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸੋਗ = ਗ਼ਮ। ਬਿਸਰਾਮਾ = ਟਿਕਾਣਾ, ਨਿਵਾਸ। ਬਾਂਛਤ = ਇੱਛਤ। ਅਚਿੰਤਾ = ਅਚਨਚੇਤ।੨।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਗ਼ਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਢਾਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਚਨਚੇਤ ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।

ਉਹ ਏਥੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਏਦੂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਸੁਰਖਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਉਣੇ ਤੇ ਜਾਣੇ (ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ)। ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਭੈਅ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਈਹਾ = ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਆਗੈ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਹਿਰਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਿਚ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਭਾਣੇ = ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗੇ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਸੁਰਖ਼-ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਦੁੱਖ, ਤਕਲੀਫ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਨਸ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਉਠਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਬਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉੇਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਦਰਦੁ = ਪੀੜ। ਭ੍ਰਮੁ = ਭਟਕਣ। ਪੂਰ = ਪੂਰੇ, ਸਫਲ। ਕਰੰਮਾ = ਕੰਮ।੪।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੀੜ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੪।੧੦।੨੧।

मिरतक कउ पाइओ तनि सासा बिछुरत आनि मिलाइआ ॥
Mirṯak ka▫o pā▫i▫o ṯan sāsā bicẖẖuraṯ ān milā▫i▫ā.

Behold the glorious greatness of the Perfect Guru.

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ता की कीमति कहणु न जाई ॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧā kī kīmaṯ kahaṇ na jā▫ī. Rahā▫o.
His worth cannot be described. ||Pause||

ਦੂਖ ਸੋਗ ਕਾ ਢਾਹਿਓ ਡੇਰਾ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਬਿਸਰਾਮਾ ॥
दूख सोग का ढाहिओ डेरा अनद मंगल बिसरामा ॥
Ḏūkẖ sog kā ḏẖāhi▫o derā anaḏ mangal bisrāmā.
He has demolished the abode of sorrow and disease, and brought bliss, joy and happiness.

ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥
मन बांछत फल मिले अचिंता पूरन होए कामा ॥२॥
Man bāŉcẖẖaṯ fal mile acẖinṯā pūran ho▫e kāmā. ||2||
He effortlessly awards the fruits of the mind's desire, and all works are brought to perfection. ||2||

ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
ईहा सुखु आगै मुख ऊजल मिटि गए आवण जाणे ॥
Īhā sukẖ āgai mukẖ ūjal mit ga▫e āvaṇ jāṇe.
He finds peace in this world, and his face is radiant in the world hereafter; his comings and goings are finished.

ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
निरभउ भए हिरदै नामु वसिआ अपुने सतिगुर कै मनि भाणे ॥३॥
Nirbẖa▫o bẖa▫e hirḏai nām vasi▫ā apune saṯgur kai man bẖāṇe. ||3||
He becomes fearless, and his heart is filled with the Naam, the Name of the Lord; his mind is pleasing to the True Guru. ||3||

ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
ऊठत बैठत हरि गुण गावै दूखु दरदु भ्रमु भागा ॥
Ūṯẖaṯ baiṯẖaṯ har guṇ gāvai ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ bẖaram bẖāgā.
Standing up and sitting down, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord; his pain, sorrow and doubt are dispelled.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੨੧॥
कहु नानक ता के पूर करमा जा का गुर चरनी मनु लागा ॥४॥१०॥२१॥
Kaho Nānak ṯā ke pūr karammā jā kā gur cẖarnī man lāgā. ||4||10||21||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਮੁਰਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਸ ਪਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਛੜਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਪਸ਼ੂ, ਜਿੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਭੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਥੀ ਵੰਞਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਮਿਰਤਕ = (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ। ਤਨਿ = ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਸਾਸਾ = ਸਾਹ, ਜਿੰਦ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ। ਆਨਿ = ਲਿਆ ਕੇ। ਮੁਗਧ = ਮੂਰਖ। ਸ੍ਰੋਤੇ = (ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ। ਮੁਖਿ = ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ) ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ-ਜਿੰਦ ਪਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਸ਼ੂ (-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪ੍ਰੇਤ (-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਬੰਦੇ) ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸੁਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਗਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਤੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਵੇਖ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

ਤਾ ਕੀ = ਉਸ (ਵਡਿਆਈ) ਦੀ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਉੱਚਤਾ ਬੜੀ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।ਰਹਾਉ। ❀ ਨੋਟ: ਇਥੋਂ 'ਘਰੁ ੨' ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹ ੧੧ ਹੈ। ❀ ਨੋਟ: ਇਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਜਿਗਿਆਸੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਵਾਲ ਕਰਾ ਕੇ, ਤੇ, ਕਿਸੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿਵਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪੀੜ ਅਤੇ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਦੇ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ, ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਮੇਵੇ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉੇਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸੋਗ = ਗ਼ਮ। ਬਿਸਰਾਮਾ = ਟਿਕਾਣਾ, ਨਿਵਾਸ। ਬਾਂਛਤ = ਇੱਛਤ। ਅਚਿੰਤਾ = ਅਚਨਚੇਤ।੨।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ-ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਗ਼ਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਢਾਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਚਨਚੇਤ ਮਨ-ਇੱਛਤ ਫਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।

ਉਹ ਏਥੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਏਦੂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਸੁਰਖਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਉਣੇ ਤੇ ਜਾਣੇ (ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ)। ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਭੈਅ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਈਹਾ = ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਆਗੈ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਹਿਰਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਿਚ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਭਾਣੇ = ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗੇ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਾ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਸੁਰਖ਼-ਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਦੁੱਖ, ਤਕਲੀਫ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਨਸ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਉਠਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਬਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉੇਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਦਰਦੁ = ਪੀੜ। ਭ੍ਰਮੁ = ਭਟਕਣ। ਪੂਰ = ਪੂਰੇ, ਸਫਲ। ਕਰੰਮਾ = ਕੰਮ।੪।

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਇਹੁ ॥
हिरदै नामु वसाइहु ॥
Hirḏai nām vasā▫iho.
Enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your heart;

ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਹੁ ॥
घरि बैठे गुरू धिआइहु ॥
Gẖar baiṯẖe gurū ḏẖi▫ā▫iho.
sitting within your own home, meditate on the Guru.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
गुरि पूरै सचु कहिआ ॥
Gur pūrai sacẖ kahi▫ā.

ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अनद सूख कलिआण मंगल सिउ घरि आए करि इसनाना ॥ रहाउ ॥
Anaḏ sūkẖ kali▫āṇ mangal si▫o gẖar ā▫e kar isnānā. Rahā▫o.
In bliss, peace, pleasure and joy, I have returned to my own home, after my purifying bath. ||Pause||

ਸਾਚੀ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
साची गुर वडिआई ॥
Sācẖī gur vadi▫ā▫ī.
True is the glorious greatness of the Guru;

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
ता की कीमति कहणु न जाई ॥
Ŧā kī kīmaṯ kahaṇ na jā▫ī.
His worth cannot be described.

ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ॥
सिरि साहा पातिसाहा ॥
Sir sāhā pāṯisāhā.
He is the Supreme Overlord of kings.

ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥
गुर भेटत मनि ओमाहा ॥२॥
Gur bẖetaṯ man omāhā. ||2||
Meeting with the Guru, the mind is enraptured. ||2||

ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਲਾਥੇ ॥
सगल पराछत लाथे ॥
Sagal parācẖẖaṯ lāthe.
All sins are washed away,

ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
मिलि साधसंगति कै साथे ॥
Mil sāḏẖsangaṯ kai sāthe.
meeting with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
गुण निधान हरि नामा ॥
Guṇ niḏẖān har nāmā.
The Lord's Name is the treasure of excellence;

ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੩॥
जपि पूरन होए कामा ॥३॥
Jap pūran ho▫e kāmā. ||3||
chanting it, one's affairs are perfectly resolved. ||3||

ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥
गुरि कीनो मुकति दुआरा ॥
Gur kīno mukaṯ ḏu▫ārā.
The Guru has opened the door of liberation,

ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੈ ਜੈਕਾਰਾ ॥
सभ स्रिसटि करै जैकारा ॥
Sabẖ sarisat karai jaikārā.
and the entire world applauds Him with cheers of victory.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
नानक प्रभु मेरै साथे ॥
Nānak parabẖ merai sāthe.
O Nanak, God is always with me;

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੨॥
जनम मरण भै लाथे ॥४॥२॥५२॥
Janam maraṇ bẖai lāthe. ||4||2||52||
my fears of birth and death are gone. ||4||2||52||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਸਥਾਪਨ ਕਰ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ। ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਸੱਚਾ ਆਰਾਮ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹਿਰਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਘਰਿ = ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ। ਬੈਠੇ = ਟਿਕ ਕੇ। ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਸਚੁ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ)। ਲਹਿਆ = ਲੱਭਾ। ਸਾਚਾ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ। ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਅਪੁਨਾ ਹੋਇਓ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥ ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਲੂ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ, ਆਰਾਮ, ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਲ੍ਹਾਰ ਸਹਿਤ, ਮੈਂ ਨਹਾ ਧੇ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

ਕਲਿਆਣ = ਖ਼ੈਰੀਅਤ। ਸਿਉ = ਨਾਲ। ਘਰਿ = ਘਰ ਵਿਚ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ। ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨ = ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਚੁੱਭੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ, ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਸੁਖ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਵਲ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਸਾਚੀ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥

ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲਤਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਹ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਵਡਿਆਈ = ਆਤਮਕ ਉੱਚਤਾ। ਸਾਚੀ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ। ਸਿਰਿ = ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ। ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਿਆਂ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਓਮਾਹਾ = ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਉੱਚਤਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ-ਕੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਲਾਥੇ ॥ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੩॥

ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਧੋਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਖੂਬੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸਗਲ = ਸਾਰੇ। ਪਰਾਛਤ = ਪਾਪ। ਮਿਲਿ = ਮਿਲ ਕੇ। ਸਾਥੇ = ਸਾਥ ਵਿਚ, ਨਾਲ। ਨਿਧਾਨ = ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੩।

ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੈ ਜੈਕਾਰਾ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੨॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੋਖਸ਼ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਜਿੱਤ ਦੇ ਜੈਕਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਗਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੰਮਣ ਦੇ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਕੀਨੋ = ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ = ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ। ਜੈਕਾਰਾ = ਸੋਭਾ। ਭੈ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਭਉ' ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}।੪।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ) ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ (ਕਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ)। (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਸੋਭਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ਮੇਰੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਲਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ।੪।੨।੫੨।

Hirḏai nām vasā▫iho.
Enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your heart;

ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਹੁ ॥
घरि बैठे गुरू धिआइहु ॥
Gẖar baiṯẖe gurū ḏẖi▫ā▫iho.
sitting within your own home, meditate on the Guru.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
गुरि पूरै सचु कहिआ ॥
Gur pūrai sacẖ kahi▫ā.
The Perfect Guru has spoken the Truth;

ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अनद सूख कलिआण मंगल सिउ घरि आए करि इसनाना ॥ रहाउ ॥
Anaḏ sūkẖ kali▫āṇ mangal si▫o gẖar ā▫e kar isnānā. Rahā▫o.
In bliss, peace, pleasure and joy, I have returned to my own home, after my purifying bath. ||Pause||

ਸਾਚੀ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
साची गुर वडिआई ॥
Sācẖī gur vadi▫ā▫ī.
True is the glorious greatness of the Guru;

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
ता की कीमति कहणु न जाई ॥
Ŧā kī kīmaṯ kahaṇ na jā▫ī.
His worth cannot be described.

ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ॥
सिरि साहा पातिसाहा ॥
Sir sāhā pāṯisāhā.
He is the Supreme Overlord of kings.

ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥
गुर भेटत मनि ओमाहा ॥२॥
Gur bẖetaṯ man omāhā. ||2||
Meeting with the Guru, the mind is enraptured. ||2||

ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਲਾਥੇ ॥
सगल पराछत लाथे ॥
Sagal parācẖẖaṯ lāthe.
All sins are washed away,

ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
मिलि साधसंगति कै साथे ॥
Mil sāḏẖsangaṯ kai sāthe.
meeting with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
गुण निधान हरि नामा ॥
Guṇ niḏẖān har nāmā.
The Lord's Name is the treasure of excellence;

ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੩॥
जपि पूरन होए कामा ॥३॥
Jap pūran ho▫e kāmā. ||3||
chanting it, one's affairs are perfectly resolved. ||3||

ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥
गुरि कीनो मुकति दुआरा ॥
Gur kīno mukaṯ ḏu▫ārā.
The Guru has opened the door of liberation,

ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੈ ਜੈਕਾਰਾ ॥
सभ स्रिसटि करै जैकारा ॥
Sabẖ sarisat karai jaikārā.
and the entire world applauds Him with cheers of victory.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
नानक प्रभु मेरै साथे ॥
Nānak parabẖ merai sāthe.
O Nanak, God is always with me;

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੨॥
जनम मरण भै लाथे ॥४॥२॥५२॥
Janam maraṇ bẖai lāthe. ||4||2||52||
my fears of birth and death are gone. ||4||2||52||

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਸਥਾਪਨ ਕਰ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ। ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਸੱਚਾ ਆਰਾਮ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹਿਰਦੈ = ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ। ਘਰਿ = ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ। ਬੈਠੇ = ਟਿਕ ਕੇ। ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਸਚੁ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ)। ਲਹਿਆ = ਲੱਭਾ। ਸਾਚਾ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖੋ। ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ ਕਰੋ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਅਪੁਨਾ ਹੋਇਓ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥ ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਲੂ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ, ਆਰਾਮ, ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਲ੍ਹਾਰ ਸਹਿਤ, ਮੈਂ ਨਹਾ ਧੇ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

ਕਲਿਆਣ = ਖ਼ੈਰੀਅਤ। ਸਿਉ = ਨਾਲ। ਘਰਿ = ਘਰ ਵਿਚ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ। ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨ = ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਵਿਚ ਚੁੱਭੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ, ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਸੁਖ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਆਤਮੇ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਵਲ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਸਾਚੀ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥

ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲਤਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਹ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਵਡਿਆਈ = ਆਤਮਕ ਉੱਚਤਾ। ਸਾਚੀ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ। ਸਿਰਿ = ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ। ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਿਆਂ। ਮਨਿ = ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਓਮਾਹਾ = ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਉੱਚਤਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ-ਕੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ। ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਲਾਥੇ ॥ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੩॥

ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਧੋਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਖੂਬੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸਗਲ = ਸਾਰੇ। ਪਰਾਛਤ = ਪਾਪ। ਮਿਲਿ = ਮਿਲ ਕੇ। ਸਾਥੇ = ਸਾਥ ਵਿਚ, ਨਾਲ। ਨਿਧਾਨ = ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੩।
